a story that leads to nowhere

they say if you want to be healthy, you have to make some great sacrifices. sacrifices, meaning you should avoid anything that might cause your body harm. but growing up, I remember this person that my father knew dearly. He led a very healthy lifestyle. He rarely touched alcohol, he never smoked, he exercised every given day. He was, I remember, 70 years old when he was diagnosed of COPD. Not long after they found out what was wrong with him, he succumbed to the disease and died.

I'm not writing this to promote the kind of lifestyle that I have nor to make any justifications about it. I know the dangers of smoking and the possible consequences of drinking too much. Im writing this because I think some people have gone too far in criticizing us who smoke and drink, as if we were some sort of plagues. That real story simply reminds us all that "it rains to both the just and the unjust."

If you've gone reading this to this point, I think you got too much time in your hands because we have tons of things to do! study foundations now!

Why am I not surprised that YOU have posted "a story that leads to nowhere" :-)
Because I care, I will always encourage you to remove smoking from your life sooner rather than later one breath at a time.
Marcos, I know at some point you will stop contributing to second hand smoke health related diseases, when that day comes all of the non- smokers will celebrate & applaud U

Marcos you're silly! lol

well just to comment on your story that led to nowhere...I don't look down on smokers, I'd rather smokers just be respectful of those who don't and be mindful where they smoke because second hand smoke is said to be just as deadly, if not more deadly, as first hand smokers.

Also, it's true that people who don't drink or smoke can still get diseases of the lungs, but the chances of that happening are significantly lower than that of a person who smokes religiously and also consumes a lot of alcohol.

k...off to bed i go! :o)

Marcos, You're right. It rains on both sides, whether it's just or the unjust. Unfortunate circumstances discriminates against no one. I just thought it was an interesting piece of writing, because it is true.

Take care Marcos, and I wish you nothing but the best in your nursing endeavour.

Interesting post. Did he work in a chem factory? or old buildings? We never quite know all the fact. Which lead me to my next point, it's something that my mom always said and that I truly do believe in "when its your time, its your time." So your right you could be the most healthiest person ,never smokes is a vegan and still end up with cancer or you could be someone that smokes and eats bacon everyday but lives to 99, I guess it sums down to the quality of life you have or again when its your time its your time and nothing is gonna stop it.

hi Marcus,
your right ... very interesting topic that somehow very sensitive topic for smokers and nonsmokers. no matter what say, it is totally up to the person (smoker/not) on how to take care of themselves...a CHOICE...

i like this blog, very engaging an informative. anyway, thanks for the comments, i do appreciate it. and yeah lashare, its one of those things that lead to nowhere, lols! to answer ur question juliana, the man wasnt a factory worker. in fact, he was a former governor of our province in the philippines. and if yall remember the movie that benjamin bratt and james franco did a couple of years ago (GREAT RAID), one of the 2 filipino captains that helped the americans escaped from the japanese prison was him. but of course, thats another story.

I have come to believe that most people don't do what is "right" because everyone is on their case.Especially when they know the right thing to do but don't. I think that when people are ready, they would quit their bad habits. We can only suggest but not point accusing fingers. Would your best friend cease to be your friend if one fine morning they woke up and suddenly decided they were gay?
