HESI Exams?????
Does anyone has any idea what the Hesi exam is really like? Different people have varied descriptions about how it is, I've even asked some of our instructors but I'm still not getting what I need to know. Are we supposed to know all the meds ( ie the prototypes ) we've discussed in class for the pharm HESI?? Ladies, you can tell I am really confused about this. Can anyone PLEASE explain it to me in words that I would understand?

Sarah I shall try my best, but be forewarned...I'm practically in the same boat you are. k, so from my understanding, we have to be familiar with the prototype drugs, their onset, half lives, class, etc. and we have to pay special attention to the lifespan considerations for that specific class of drugs. I assume we also may need to know adverse effects, drug to drug interactions, and all that other good stuff.
Has anyone actually started studying any of the prototype drugs? I propose we start a study group and try to work on ways to help us remember all this info. first things first though, we need to find out EXACTLY what it is that we actually need to be studying because although it'd be useful to know all that stuff, I'd hate to study all of it now and not even be tested on it. It sucks that you went to instructors and still don't have the info you need...how are we supposed to be properly prepared?!!? Anyways, if anyone else knows exactly what it is that we need to know, please share and let me know if you all would like to start a study group...
Thanks so much for the clarification. It helps to have an idea what to study. Please count me in whenever you form the pharm study group.
hi everyone,
I heard from the other previous class that we can purchased HESI exam review booklet that might help us .... I believed she mentioned you can buy it at Barnes and Noble.......just FYI
Please publish any clarifications about the HESI exam anyone might get from any of the Professors. Thanks!
Hey guys, I would love to do a pharm study group,a few of us have been working on an online flash card website, just trying to update the drugs and keep up with it has been a pain. I completely agree with Telly that we cannot really study for the test unless we know what we should be studying for I dont want to waste all that time and effort. Thanks Terese for the info on the review I have to look into that maybe we can all share it.
I talked to Prof. Politi about the Fundamentals HESI. This is the first year that the HESI has been given. Last year they used a test made by a different company. The books available in the bookstore are for the HESI that is like the TEAS test taken before you get into nursing school. So nobody seems to know what to expect. We are the guinea pigs.
hi sarah and classmates!
i am just as confused as you are. and while i mentioned that, let me raise another question that is in the same line as your question: are we taking more than one HESI test? because if you looked at the syl of both foundations and pharmacology, both have given 2 different HESI test dates, the former stating its on OCt 13 and the latter saying its on Oct 16 so I dont know.
Isn't that cool how we're gonna be the guinea pigs for the Fundamentals HESI exam!?!?!?!?!!! (insert fake smile here!)
This is ridiculous!!! Anyways, as I've always been told..."Complainin' ain't gon change nothing!" So fellow classmates, did you all read the posting that we can't really study for the Fundamentals HESI? They said that we just have to come in prepared to do our best. blah!
Now about the Pharm HESI (Jerome, yes we have to take TWO of these wonderful tests), I still haven't received any info on what exactly is going to be on it, so I think we need to bombard our instructors with these questions to let them see that we're concerned. In the back of my mind, however, I'm wondering if maybe we shouldn't be stressing that much about either exam since the instructors clearly have to interest in properly prepping us. This is leading me to believe that perhaps these exams aren't detrimental. Either way, I'm the kind of student that wants to do well just cuz! So dog gonnit gimme something to study!!! grrrrrr LOL (sorry I turned this into my little venting session...but does anyone else share my pain?!!?!?)
Thanks therese for the information about buying the HESI book, cause i am confuse too i dont know what to really focus on at first but now that you mentioned buying the book i will definately get it and am hoping is going to help take the test.
